General info about Orlando Airport
Orlando International Airport is one of the major commercial civil airports of the United States. It is located 6 miles southeast of the center of Orlando FL. This airport is the most popular and busiest in Florida and the eleventh busiest in the US.
Orlando Airport is an additional hub for AirTran Airways and a major hub on the route networks of Southwest Airlines and JetBlue Airways. The headquarters of AirTran Airways and its commercial hub are located at MCO Airport. Budget carrier Southwest Airlines is currently the largest operator at this airport, providing around 20% of the airport’s total traffic.
MCO Terminals
The Airport of Orlando has a complex main passenger terminal which is divided into two terminals:
- Terminal A
- Terminal B
Please note that during the latest South Terminal Complex renovations, the main terminal has been renamed to the North Terminal Complex.
The MCO Airport Terminal Complex has 4 independent airsides accessible by automatic passenger shuttles. Between the terminals, there are two security control points to reach the West Hall (airsides 1 and 3), and the East Atrium (airsides 2 and 4). Although the airsides are grouped 1-3 and 2-4.
Inter-terminal transportation
Passengers can get from the central building to the airsides by the elevated train shuttle. The estimated travel time between Orlando Airport terminals is 68 seconds.
Levels
MCO Orlando North Terminal complex consists of three levels:
Level 1: Transportation and baggage claim area (8A)
Level 2: Luggage collection.
Level 3: Check-in. This level is divided between check-in counters and boarding gates. Down the stairs, you will find catering services. Other services available are currency exchange, check-in counters, and security checks. On this level, you will also find the boarding gates from 1 to 59 on the west and from 70 to 129 on the east. There are separate security controls for the two different sections of gates.
In the center of the Airport building, between both terminals, there is a “Food Court” with catering services for passengers.
Airsides have the following boarding gates:
1: Boarding gates 1 to 29.
2: Gates from 100 to 129.
3: Gates 30 to 59.
4: Gates 70 to 99.
Lounges
USO Lounge — For active military service members and their families. This lounge has several services.
Location: Terminal A, Level 1. Hours: 06:00 am to 10:00 pm
The Club — Location: Terminal A, Airside, along with boarding gates 1 to 29.
Services available: Showers, food, and beverages.
Delta Sky Club — Location: Terminal B, Central Atrium, next to Gate 71.
United Club — Location: Terminal B, airside, near gate 43.
